BCBSRA Annual General Meeting 2001British Columbia Blind Sports and Recreation Association's 23rd Annual General Meeting was held on September 23, 2001. The event was well attended by members throughout British Columbia, some of whom came from as far as Prince George, Quesnel, and Kelowna. The meeting commenced with an informative presentation by guest speaker David Steen Senior, who spoke about the role exercise plays in ensuring long and healthy lives. During the Meeting, elections were held for the positions of Treasure, Directors at Large (2 positions), and Athletes representative. We are pleased to announce that Frank Reynolds, Moira Colbourne, and Tom Ollis will continue in their roles of Treasurer and Directors at Large respectively. It is also our pleasure to welcome Brian Cowie, a member of our Tandem Cycling Commission, as our new Athletes Representative. A special By-Law Resolution was introduced and approved, during the meeting, to change the two membership categories of Blind and Sighted to Blind and Supporting. This amendment will provide blind individuals the option of applying to the association as either an athlete or a supporter. In Recognition of the International Year of Volunteers, a Volunteer Appreciation Tea was held immediately prior to the Annual General Meeting. This tea gave staff and athletes the opportunity to meet and thank some of the volunteers who have been and continue to be such an invaluable part of BC Blind Sports.
