Curling News and Content Curling in 100 Mile House, BC - HistoryFollowing many months of administration preparation, the CCB 100 Mile House & District Chapter White Cane Club is pleased to announce the formation of a first time ever blind curling team in the South Cariboo. With the support of the 100 Mile House Curling Club and the West Coast Blind Curling Association (WCBCA), seven visually impaired members, as well as three sighted, have taken to the ice just eight weeks ago in mid October. Not only will some of these individuals compete in the upcoming provincial play downs, but 100 Mile House will be the host for this bonspiel scheduled for January 7 – 9, 2011. With the number of blind curling teams diminishing within BC, this is a good opportunity to bring in a new team and lead the way for future team development in other communities. This is an exciting endeavor for several reasons, but especially as it appeals to members of all ages, from our youngest member of 15 years to our more elder members. The 100 Mile House White Cane Club is a unique Chapter in that we have 5 visually impaired members under the age of twenty five. As a result of most individuals experiencing some vision loss due to the aging process, it is understandable that most members of the CCB are seniors so we are proud to be able to involve our youth with similar interests. DETAILS OF EVENT If you would like information about participating please contact Lori
