Dragon Zone Competitive Blind / Partially Sighted Team

You are invited to attend a meeting on Saturday, October 15th at 10:00 AM. We will meet by the Dragon Zone Offices in the Creekside Community Centre located at 1 Athletes Way, Vancouver, BC.

The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the creation of a Dragon Zone Competitive BPS (blind / partially sighted) Team. This team is not meant to replace existing BPS teams but rather strengthen and support all BPS teams and paddlers. This team would practice once a week with the goal of competing at DBC 2017 Canadian Club Crew National Championships (Welland, ON) and IDBF 2018 Club Crew World Championships (Szeged, Hungary).

The pillars this team would be built are sustainability, inclusion and ability.

Sustainability - obtaining sponsorship through a number of organizations that support and champion programs for disabled athletes and the philosophy that no athlete is left behind due to lack of financial resources.

Inclusion – creating equal opportunity and access for all participants to develop and experience the power of being part of a team and a community.

Ability – through practice, commitment, and coaching. Build individual’s abilities and contribution to the success of the team and working together achieve what others do not think possible. Raising awareness of ability.

I look forward to working with you all to make this a reality.

Please RSVP to davidbrun@dragonboatbc.ca
